On your computer, the visibility of some files may be hidden – so “Windows” takes care of the security of the user’s data. Hidden items are system files of the operating system that are specially hidden to avoid accidental deletion.
You may need to open up visibility, for example, if you want to clear the space on the disk, as some applications create backup data that becomes irrelevant over time. Hidden information may also be required for computer game lovers.
You can access the data by using the built-in programs of the operating system and the help of third-party applications.
To obtain the data, we use either the Explorer or the Control Panel. In the first case, you need to go to My Computer and go to the “Service” section. Next, we select the “View” category in the folder properties. In front of the “Show hidden files and folders” paragraph, tick and click OK.
When you go to the Control Panel through the Start button, we go to Service in the same way and select The Folder Properties. Then we act according to the algorithm mentioned above.
In addition to working directly in the OS, you can use the “Total Commander” app. In this case, we consistently move on to the tabs of this manager: “Configuration,” then “Configuration,” then “Content panel,” and in the “File Display” item tick up the “Show Hidden/System Files” option and click “Ok.”
First, we open the “My computer” conductor. Then we go to the “Service” section, where we go to the “View” tab in the folder properties.
To activate the option, tick the “Show Hidden Files” in front of the option. Similar to working with the XP version, you can use Total Commander.
Through the Start button, we go to the Control Panel and follow the “Making and Personalization” section.
When you open the Folder Settings mode, you go to the View tab. In “Additional Settings, we activate the option to display hidden items.
Windows 8.x and 10
In the “8.x” version, you can get the data through the search bar. In the request, we specify the word “Daddy” and follow in “Options.” The View tab will have the feature of displaying invisible items.
In version 10, you can see the data by turning to the search bar on the Taskbar. We enter the request “Showing hidden files and folders,” and we note the option we are interested in on the above algorithm.
